Whilst we were in the process of making our animatics we decided it would be a good idea to go backwards afer the title shot, because it creates more of a sense of engagement from the audience seeing as the whole film will be going backwards which is a technique used in the film memento.
We experimented with transitions some worked well (worked well with the thriller concept) and some didn't giving us and idea on what to use and what not to use in the actual thriller

sound: starts off earie when we see the red like smoke and then becomes more traumatic and faster and louder as we see the clips of the girl.the pitch also gets higher, like a screetching sound. a scream is heard when the title appears near the end. Allows you to hear some of her gasps-diegetic mixed with non diegetic.

mise en scene: dull colours, some parts black and white, the red smoke stuff...the people.

editing: montage editing, backward scenes-giving a disoriented, confusing effect, cut transitions.

cinematography: close ups of girls face. clothes. hands.

Planning

In the opening sequence of our thriller there will be two different scenarios ; parallel editing OR montage editing which is where one scene is from the past and one is at present time.

part 1: a girl with her friends-laughing,normal teenager,happy times.. to write a letter but then burns the letter..

part 2: clips of her hanging herself..stool/chair pushed away from her feet..to break the ice..

all clips will be jumbled up.

The concept of the whole film: The main character, Sophie, has a secret life unknown to her friends, causing her to become depressed. Sophie is seen as a happy girl, however we see her committing suicide in the opening sequence which shows us otherwise. The sequence will include clips from the past and the present, showing both sides of her life-happy and sad.

sound: slow and earie and uses strings such as violins.

mise en scene: dark foggy forest, obsticle course, crime photos on the wall, dark lighting-dull colours.

cinematography: close ups of the face, tracking; follows the lady, photos

editing: continuity editing-flows

themes: murder and investigation.
